March 2026 - Preparing for Spring Across Chew Valley

A selection of photos from a garden developmemt project in Chew Magna. Lovely to see plants starting to emerge again in the different areas. The last photo is a new space. This was a mass of ivy and brash, now cleaned up and re-used as dead hedging. The ground has been prepared with organic compost and mulch, ready for planting.

Getting the kids involved. Our son fitting rabbit guards around hedging whips planted in Nempnett Thrubwell for a Nempnett Pastures volunteer day!

Decking in Compton Martin.

Sketching a new design for this space. The client is looking for immediate privacy and screening around the wildlife pond area, and still access to the shed areas through the wildflower spaces.

An area of overgrown flowerbed, which has been specified as a wildlife pond. The space will be cleared and a shallow but wide pond excavated. Watch this space!

Planting project in no-dig beds near East Harptree. Hydrangeas have been transplanted from another area where they were overshadowed by taller hedging.

Establishment of a new perennial wildflower area.
